I can’t help but remember my grandparents repeat statements of “a days hard labor will bring you together” or “many hands make light work.”

Recently, a community reached out to us looking to revamp their main entrance. A vehicle had jumped the curb and damaged one of their existing entrance signs. This was incident they were not prepared for, and did not have funding allocated in the HOA funds. They were on a very strict budget, and wanted well beyond their means.
In most construction industries, materials are roughly 40% the value of the contractors bid. We suggested the community hold a HOA Board Meeting to reach out to all the owners in the neighborhood. The suggestion was made to source and purchase the materials directly, and perform the labor themselves to meet budget.
We gladly assisted in providing an image of landscape materials along with an overall design, which included new entrance sign monuments.

Above is the NEW design they decided to take advantage of instead of simply recreating the hit monument, and staying with the old, out-dated design. This way they got an entirely new look for the entrance of their community.
The construction took 4 weeks on our end, which gave ample time for the community to purchase the landscape materials. We emailed a picture of the completed sign for approval so they could see the results before crating and shipping. Once approved, the project was then delivered to the property entrance.
The community sign was installed using post hole diggers and a few bags of concrete from Home Depot. The sign was first positioned in place to make sure it looked right:
Next, the sign was laid on the packing material to keep it from getting dirty:

The pipes were inserted (we include pipes):

They monument was then tilted up so the pipes went into the holes. Packing material was stuck under the sign to allow a gap for concrete to be poured:

Concrete was mixed in a 5 gallon bucket and poured in both holes:
The packing material was removed, and the monument fell right into place, then checked with a level. The excess dirt from the holes was used to make sure the sign was level.

Once complete, the neighbors gathered on a weekend to place a rock border and plant landscaping. They have called thanking us with great pride in the results. People met neighbors they haven’t met until the project, and have expressed delight in bettering their community – and property values!
