About These Signs
Acrylic lobby signs, or business wall signs, are made from synthetic resins. These polymers come in sheets if different colors and thickness. The advantage of acrylic is that is has a color through and through, meaning it is not a painted on surface. that can be scratched off, nor can any uneven color seen by the painter. These acrylics come in clear as well, which is the most common material in commercial grade signage.
Acrylic has a natural shine to is, meaning it will always loo shiny and new. When acrylic is cut to shape, like an individual letter, a white milky edge is created. This can be removed (if you like) by flame treating or just by cutting the acrylic on a laser machine.
Here is an example of an exterior wall treatment of acrylic sign panels. There are two tenants that share this common entrance. We ship stand-offs to mount these acrylic panels so they appear to “float” off the wall.
Different Effects
A really cool effect is to apply graphics to the back side of clear acrylic. This treatment makes graphics look encased in glass, and the acrylic protects the graphics for all time. A mirror reflection is cast in the acrylic, so as viewers walk by, there is a sort of “motion” created that grabs attention:
We can also laser-cut thicker sheets of acrylic, prime, and paint them in commercial sign enamels. Our commercial sign enamels allow for exact Pantone color matching (and other paint systems). Individual letters will mount to the wall surface (even curved walls). They can mount flat to the wall like this example, or can ‘stand-off’ slightly using the threaded rods that screw them to the wall.
