This HOA entrance sign monument was hit by a drunk driver. It took out a large bush and the end corner of the monument. Fortunately, this monument had a foam core, so no one was injured. The damage in this case left no option but to replace the entire unit. This project however did not have the break-away system installed. See how the steel pipes are remaining exposed and the structure was ripped and busted apart?
Note: We have a proprietary break-away system that makes the entire monument literally snap and shear off the ground. This minimizes any damage to the sign monument, prevents any driver injury, and meets Code for break-away. Municipalities are starting to require break-away systems on all exterior signage. DOT rules definitely require break-away. It is a matter of time before this is the standard requirement everywhere.
